Astral Hygiene, based in St Boswells, was awarded the warrant for its “outstanding service” and “dedication to sustainable products” over the years.

This is the second Royal Warrant for the company, after being granted one by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The Royal Warrant allows Astral Hygiene to display the Royal Arms on its vehicles, premises and stationery, signifying its relationship with the Royal Households.

The company, run by husband and wife team Yewan and Anna Armstrong, has been operating out of the Borders for almost 30 years, supplying cleaning and paper products locally and nationally.

Mr Armstrong said: “This is a hugely proud moment for Astral Hygiene, and we are delighted to be awarded this prestigious honour.

“My wife and I would like to thank all of our team for their hard work and dedication helping to achieve this recognition from His Majesty the King.

“This award is a culmination of those endeavours, and great recognition for all involved.”

Mr Armstrong added: “The Royal Warrant is an indication that a small family business can provide bespoke solutions to customers of all sizes and requirements and that we have expertise that will continue to offer a unique approach to benefit all of our customers.”

The criteria for qualification for a Royal Warrant are very strict, with only around 560 companies receiving the Royal Warrant from the King.

To receive this warrant, a company must have a deep relationship with the Royal Households, demonstrate ‘exceptional service’ to the Royal Household, and have a commitment to providing sustainable goods.
