First Camp, the largest group of campsites and resorts in the Nordics, acquires Apukka Resort, one of the largest and leading resorts in Finnish Lapland. The acquisition marks First Camp’s first destination in Finland.
Apukka Resort, located just outside Rovaniemi, has an annual turnover of approximately 22 million EUR and the business includes 116 cabins and glass igloos. Winter tourism in Rovaniemi is experiencing strong growth, and there are currently over 40 direct flight routes to and from Rovaniemi.
“Apukka Resort is a well-managed business with a strong market position, exceptional guest satisfaction, solid profitability, and bright future prospects. As the new owner, we can support Apukka Resort in continued growth and commercial development, and we see several areas of collaboration with our other operations. For example, we see great potential in leveraging Apukka Resort’s experience and distribution network to develop the growing winter tourism segment at several First Camp destinations in Sweden. Apukka Resort will be operated as a separate subsidiary within our Group, under its own brand and with the same local team as today,” says First Camps Group CEO, Johan Söör.
“We have a 5-year growth plan at Apukka Resort and with the support of First Camp, we can confidently continue towards that with our professional and dedicated team. The everyday life of the company will stay the same and our homebase is still in Rovaniemi,” says Harri Mällinen, CEO of Apukka Resort
Johan Söör continues: “In addition to all the investment opportunities available at Apukka Resort, we will continue to explore other acquisition opportunities within the winter tourism segment, both in Finland and in other countries.”
Closing is expected to take place during the second quarter of 2025. First Camp already operates in Sweden, Denmark and Norway, and Apukka Resort will be First Camp’s first destination in Finland and destination number 74 within the group. Apukka Resort will be owned by a sister company to First Camp Group AB, and the ownership will therefore be outside the bond structure of First Camp Group AB.
The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals, including approval from the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (Kilpailu- ja kuluttajavirasto, KKV).
