Londoners urged not to have barbecues this weekend amid soaring temperatures ‘because of wildfire risk’

4. > London Fire Brigade urged people in the capital to take precautions against wildfires, as forecasts project temperatures hotter than Barcelona and Athens this week, peaking at 21C on Friday.

   > The last time London was hit by wildfires was in the 2022 heatwave, when UK temperatures soared above 40C for the first time.

   Its nearly half the temperature of the wildfires… this is getting ridiculous. 21C is not really hot (guarantee people will still be in coats and roadman gear)

7. Saw a load of 30 something blokes in my local park in the middle of the dry grass by a giant dry bush fanning a BBQ placed on the ground with a piece of cardboard last weekend soooo I can definitely see this happening…

8. Surely it’s only people putting disposable BBQs on the ground who risk that. Can’t see any harm in firing up my grill
