  3. Tariffs don’t apply to these countries because we don’t do meaningful trade with them to begin with, sure, I could buy that, IF we weren’t applying tariffs to uninhabited islands and other countries that only have small trade relationships with the US.

    The US can import Russian fertilizer in 2025, as the current situation does not have any restrictions on Russian fertilizer exports to the US.

    United States Imports from Canada of Fertilizers was US$3.87 Billion during 2024. As of writnig this the tariffs on Canadian fertilizers are @ 10%. There is no tariff on Russian fertilizer and no restriction on US imports of it.

    Trump’s goal is to convince US farmers to purchase their fertilizers from Russia rather than Canada, thus killing two birds with one stone.

  22. Hegseth said the last administration made the US look weak. Well if thats the case, the current admin looks 100% compromised. Russia and North Korea should NEVER be exempt from anything seeing as they both want to see America crushed. And Trump’s white house is doing an excellent job at that.
    Canada and other friendly countries can help but he ruined their relationships to force Russia to the fore. They could not be more transparent in their motive.

    The same day these tariffs were imposed we just [lifted sanctions](https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2025/04/02/us-lifts-sanctions-on-wife-of-russian-billionaire-rotenberg-a88587) on the wife of a Russian oligarch, without explanation.

    We have a way higher deficit with Russia and they got zero tariffs, and actually had some sanctions *lifted.* We all know why.
