2. This minister hasn’t understood a thing if he thinks that. Trump’s objective is to depreciate the dollar. And as a bonus, he wants to make the poor and middle classes pay to cut taxes for the richest. Also a bit of market manipulation with insider trading for the friends.

3. UK has betrayed their European partners by saying they won’t retaliate against US tariffs instead work to try to persuade Trump to lower the tariff between 0%-5%.

    I think there’s a psychological component to these tariffs that Europeans and other foreigners don’t sense. Trump hates everyone who isn’t one of his MAGA worshipers, and what the tariffs do is materially hurt all those foreign people that he so intensely hates. The satisfaction he gets from this is so great that he’s willing to wreck the economic future of his own supporters in order to experience it.

    I guarantee you he’s wetting his pants right now watching stock market markets around the world collapse and foreign heads of state suffer mini-strokes, even if the US stock market is one of those and his own followers are desperately recalculating their household budgets for the coming year.

33. Interesting to see wildly different predictions. I’d assume the 47 regime will cave on most issues and then declare victory. Possibly because they “got something” they already had, that’s meaningless or got negotiated under Biden but not implemented yet.

    I’ll not be surprised if some issues (especially cars and tech) will just fester over a few years and bleed money from both economies, with 47 whining how unfair it is that EU retaliated and doesn’t just completely do what his propagandistic tech monopolists want.

34. I don’t support what is happening. But if you saw the tweet from Eric Trump, the US is playing these countries against each other, whoever cuts a deal first will do the best. Like when police separate suspects and play them against each other. It sounds good to say that rest of the world just needs to stick together, but then the US is telling you that country X is throwing you under the bus and cutting a deal without you, you better hurry up and cut a deal first. Do you take the chance that everyone will stick together, or lookout for yourself? It’s not so easy in practice. At least some countries are being up front and transparent that they are not going to reciprocate and will try negotiating.

35. In a long term USA will win by this. Tariffs means that in a long time companies will invest in USA and start production in the country, becouse it will be cheaper for them. But if world squeeze them fast,they will have no other choice then to remove tariffs from countries. Simple as that. They will suffer a lot at begginig but later they will grow stronger.

36. If the reason to band together are tariffs, that’s really reaaaaly bad. Should being in EU be banding together already? Kinda getting tiresome all that posturing last few months without any action
