To often we (and by this I mean us on this sub and obviously the posturing politicians) forget that there’s a real story and person behind these numbers.
Im not sure what the solution is. You’ve got all the posturing on both sides but also we’re staring down the barrel of human made effects on the environment of which overfishing is but one significant component. Perhaps fewer fishermen would be better? Perhaps the government should look to ways of financially supporting fishermen to moving away from fishing? I don’t know.
He seems fairly philosophical about it all but also he looks substantially older than 35 so maybe a different job would be better for his health.

Stubborn despite approving 98% of all EU licence applications?
Looking at his boat, the Sainte-Catherine-Laboure I refuse to believe a boat of that calibre does not have some form of advanced GPS or reems of paperwork and or records which would back up a historical fishing right claim.
It’s actually pretty sad that the people who are really suffering are the fishermen who have negligible impact on either economy.
The bigger commercial fleets, that have a far bigger impact on fishing stocks etc… are not affected by the squabbling between the UK and France.
Hopefully a compromise can be reached.
And British fishing fleet .has been demoralized because of the EU .. rapping the sea bed
