Hoopoe. Really unusual bird, interesting to see. Surely they’re here in such big numbers because of the unusually mild March.
Incidentally, they’re relatively common in southern Europe in the summer, I’ve seen several in Spain
Immigrants. 🫣
I’ve seen a couple of Goldcrests in the garden over the past few days. I’ve never seen one in the flesh (feathers?) before. Not as fancy as that one, but still nice to see.
Hey! We have plenty of those in Seville, Spain. I love that bird!
We’re being invaded! These non European birds are coming over here taking our jobs and stealing our women.
Right next to the bit in the Bible about men not riding other men, there’s a bit about how you can’t eat these fellas because they’re detestable.
I don’t think it specifies why, but… seems harsh?
Was out over the weekend, and again today looking for them. Still haven’t seen a single one, despite sightings being reported in the area. Fuckers up and vanish like a fart in the wind anytime I’m around it seems.

Unvetted military aged pigeons!!
Oh here we go again…. Climate change!!!
Can it carry coconuts though?
There’s an Irish fella on Tiktok who has some class footage of one of these fellas from Inismór this week! Class looking yokes.
Really nice piece about this on Irish language radio here:

A fine example of an avian engineer. Or a doctor of ornithology perhaps?
The flood of immigrants into Ireland just doesn’t stop.
