Planning on taking the youngest to see Minecraft tomorrow, I know cinema food is expensive but €43 for a themed popcorn/drink combo?

  1. Yikes!

I remember (when I was a student!) getting a ticket, popcorn and drink for €8 in the Galway omniplex 2014-18!

  2. It’s a commemorative box and cup. I wouldn’t say it’s value for money but that’s where the expense is. The kid will love it and it’ll be used to fill with legos at home, probably.

I’m sure there will be cheaper alternatives.

  3. Took my daughter the other week and price was the same and even she commented on how expensive it was ….not somewhere you’d be going every week is it

  4. Popcorn buckets and drink cups have been marketing scams since forever. They went away for a while, and no one cared. I blame Dune for reinvigorating their popularity.

  5. Does that include the tickets as well? (Genuine question)

  6. Ah here, shop around rather than running straight to Reddit and complaining.

My local cinema does ticket and popcorn / drink (any size) for 12.95e. Not sure how they can even make money on it.

And your here bad mouthing cinemas because your trying to buy a collectors item? Ugh I hate the internet.

  7. There was a Captain America one that cost 51 euro but these things don’t sell well, you are better off waiting and they’ll be discounted in a month or two, as long as your local odeon isn’t too busy

  8. Just posted about this myself. That’s fecken insane. Will go to a restaurant instead

  9. Yewd b mad to pay that….bring rucksack and full it with fave stuff …like what they gonna do!

  10. Crazy prices these days for the cinema food. But to be fair, all these years later, I still have my Harry Potter ones from its original release cinema days. No doubt my parents were ripped off then.

  11. I remember when promotional items at the cinema were all free. That’s some predatory shit, they know parents don’t want to deal with their kids sulking cause they didn’t get their toys.

  12. Jesus, it’s nearly as pricy as mech at gigs. I noped out of a €40 Tshirt at the Pantera gig recently but this shit for a film? I’d want a ticket and the blu ray too for that money.

  13. Its just plastic stuff that your kid will forget in a day or two, and also that price are just mental. Should be illegal

  14. bro what cinema is this they dont have this at my Omniplex

look i usually love this collectors stuff but 43 euro oh fuck that the Deadpool and wolverine one i got cost i cant offhand remember but it was less then 30 euro i know that much

  15. What happened to going to the shop and sneaking in all the snacks to skip the overpriced shite in the cinema?

  16. You could also not pay to see this and instead sail the seas on the TV. This movie doesn’t deserve money.

  17. Must be an Odeon. Robbing people blind on food seems to be the norm there these days

  18. My parents would not have even blinked before saying no to that. And they’d have been right. Fuck that.

  19. I take it all back, I just watched the promo video, the drink is bigger than the tub of popcorn and there’s only one of each, I couldn’t even see the price without signing up to the odeon website!

    Fuck that!

I’ll take your word that it’s 40 somthing, and I’ll keep that in mind if I ever have a desire to go to the cinema again.

I hope the wages of the poor fuckers who work there have risen at the same rate as the food. Hope is all we have left
