WASHINGTON (TNND) — More changes are coming to the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Department of Government Efficiency writing on ‘X’ is not renewing a contract that costs $380,000/month for website modifications. Instead, the work will be done by a software engineer. A cut veteran Jim Blythe agrees with.

“I think reallocating money that’s being wasted is a very good thing,” Blythe said.

Blythe believes the money could be better spent. Specifically, it boosts community care, which allows eligible veterans to receive healthcare services from providers outside of VA facilities.

“To reinstate that community care in that part of the budget to help those veterans out,” said Blythe.

DOGE made the announcement this week about an hour after Politico published a piece saying Musk plans to step back from his current role in the coming weeks. The White House called the scoop “garbage.”

Vice President JD Vance addressing the report and Musk’s role in the administration Thursday morning on Fox & Friends.

“We need you to shrink the incredible vast bureaucracy that thwarts the will of the American people but also costs way too much money, and we said that’s going to take about six months, and that’s what Elon signed up for,” Vance said.

The Vice President added, Musk will remain a fundamental friend and mentor to both he and President Trump even after leaving DOGE.

“The work of DOGE is not even close to done. The work of Elon is not even close to done,” said Vance.

DOGE claims its efforts have saved the federal government an estimated $140 billion. But Alex Nowrasteh with the Cato Institute says those savings are overstated. The real number is around $5-15 billion.
