Still too much purchasing American weapons, not enough support for our domestic arms industry.
I’m all for defense spending but 5% seems way too much and arbitrary. Especially since I know they will spend it on some bullshit, not real defense.
We need to build our own military industrial complex. We need to be building our domestic versions of weapons that proved to be successful in Ukraine: 155mm Howitzers, HIMARS and drones.
But most importantly we need to build 2-3 factories that builds ammo for each of those weapons, stockpile it throughout the country and once we’re happy with the amount, slow down production to maintenance/replacement levels. Then build procedures for on-boarding new factory workers if ever there is a war and we need to 3x the output.
But that won’t happen even if those idiots would spend 10% on defense…
