I know it looks shite but I collected a bunch of clothing brands that are 100% Finnish and make their product in Finland too (with the exception of Billebeino, who makes some of their product in Portugal).

When I have more time I'll make a better looking, comprehensive guide to shop Finnish clothing brands. You'd be surprised how many companies *look* Finnish/Scandinavian but aren't actually.

  1. You can see I put Joutsen and Billebeino in brackets under their logo, it’s because I (and others too I presume) have vision difficulty while having a headache or just by default. Logos like Billebeino’s are just plain horrible and Joutsen’s isn’t ideal either for this exact reason.

I’ll also make a guide about some companies that you might think are Finnish but they just have an office here and their products are actually made in China, or the company is only 5% Finnish but then forget to include that in their marketing.

Let me know if you’re interested in knowing about a specific field!

  2. all brands belong to the middle category if you are brave enough

  3. Globe hope only make their bags in Finland, their clothes are manufactured in India and Bangladesh

  4. This is nonsense. You say Finnish clothing brands but then are actually trying to see if they make their products in Finland. And fail at that.

  5. What about the other big name brands like Makia and Karhu

  6. Vimma!

“VIMMA’s goal is to produce everything nearby. We have set the so-called three-hour rule, which means that it takes a maximum of three hours to travel from the factory to the office. Our goal is to build a confidential, good, and long-lasting cooperation with our factories. VIMMA’s clothes are cut and assembled in Finland and the Baltic countries, which means that employee rights and environmental legislation are in order. ”

    tai suomeksi:

VIMMAn tavoite on tuottaa kaikki lähellä.

  7. Neither Kaiko nor Uhana make their clothes in Finland.

  8. About Varustelkea, it’s just the storefront that sells military surplus goods, mostly from around Europe. It is not a clothing brand.

The cloting brand is [Särmä](https://www.varusteleka.com/en/brands/sarma/23). They do have product line that were made in China but they are currently going through a supply chain overhaul where most of it will be European. They have a comically name [Project MEGA](https://www.varusteleka.com/en/articles/project-mega-gtfo-of-china-continued/138) (or atleast I think it is humour) which explains the change.

Another brand they sell in varusteleka is [Savotta](https://www.savotta.fi/), they make backpacks. That one is made in Finland and Estonia according to their website.

  9. Nousu is great local brand! Everything exc. zippers made in Finland.

  10. Nousu – 99% Made in Finland except for zippers, there is no Finnish zipper maker anymore!

  11. I haven’t heard of a single brand before. I guess Finnish fashion isn’t very big here in Sweden. (“Kajko” is slang for crazy or broken though. I’ve only heard it in Stockholm. I think it’s Finnish because the combination of letters is not Germanic.)

  12. I’d add [Nousu](https://www.nousut.fi/) to the list as well. They make everything in Finland and source everything from as close as possible. I think zippers are the only thing directly bought from outside Finland as the Finnish supplier of those went out of business.

  13. Kiitos kaikille vastauksista!! Teen uuden version heti kun pääsen kotiin. Tein tätä vain koska ärsytti kun työkaveri sanoi “Northface on suomalainen, eiks oo”. No ei oo 😀 Se on USA-sta.

Tiedän että tää “ohje” on ruma, ja kiitos kun kerroitte mitkä kohteet ovat virheellisiä! Lisään myös teidän vinkkit, ehdotukset uuteen versioon, ja korjaan virheet.

  14. Särmä products from Varusteleka are one of the best in my opinion!

  15. Tamsilk makes their products in Kangasalla, Finland.

Nomen Nescio is a Helsinki based company that has their patterns and design made in Finland, but production is elsewhere.

  16. Paapii
    Tamsilk
    Ommellinen
    Iloinen Kettuliini
    Kutomo Holopainen Oy

There’s some more. Hopefully all still in business 😀

IvanaHelsinki’s knitted items are produced in Finland but other stuff is made in Turkey.
