Gaz-System has decided to carry out modernization works at the metering station in Hermanowice, after a technical dialogue was conducted with GTSOU, the Ukrainian transmission system operator (TSO), the Polish company announced. The upgrades will increase the network’s capacity towards Ukraine.
The project comprises modernising the gas facility in Hermanowice and increasing its metering and billing capabilities. The available capacity will be assessed on an ongoing basis, and the offer will depend on supply directions, the utilisation of other export routes, the demand reported by customers in the southern and south-east regions of Poland, particularly in the power sector, and the operation of underground gas storage facilities.
The works should be completed at the turn of 2025/2026.
Ukraine purchases more and more liquified natural gas (LNG) mainly from US partners, which can arrive through Poland.
