They really could be their own country based on what they provide as a state to the federal government.  I mean govt cut FEMA so it’s every state for themselves now.  So when a hurricane comes to Florida how hesitant is California going to be?  Republicans wanted cuts. Don’t expect people to rush to your aide when disaster comes.   They may still help but it will be maybe at a smaller scale

  26. I mean, when the entire right-wing, controlling the federal government, has an attitude of “fuck anything California”, I don’t think it’s unreasonable for California to not be in lockstep with the federal government.

    Basically the governor is asking nations not to tariff goods made in California. He is not able to circumvent American tariffs, but he can try to play the game of “if you don’t tariff our goods, but instead hit red state exports , then California and other blue states can get richer and while red states get poorer, shifting the balance of power back to democrats and get a democratic government back who can repeal these tariffs.”
