  2. At first, I thought Americans were too apathetic or involved in their daily lives to stand up against this hostile takeover, but something has clearly shifted — psychologically. Delighted to see this, but also not quite sure what’s gonna happen now. This country feels like a powder keg waiting to explode. Trump is playing with fire with these insane, openly authoritarian policies and people are slowly but surely waking up.

  3. Main stream media really showing they’re bought and paid for by big money by minimizing the size of these worldwide protests. NBC News: “Demonstrations took place in Washington, Chicago, New York and other cities.” 1200 cities and worldwide. No mention on NPR, showing they’re bending the knee to Trump.

    All 50 states, dozens of cities per state, many cities > 2 sites, hundreds to > 2,000+ per site.

  21. We had close to 3,000 in Phoenix today. There were others across the state.

  22. Reading the news you would think nothing happened today. CNN’s homepage has nothing, nyt has is playing second fiddle to the weakening of cyber defense which started over a month ago. It’s like the media is working for trump or something. In Portland Oregon we had around 20,000 and the local news didn’t even show up.

    Edit: many of the national news outlets did report on it after I had made the post. 

  23. This movement has to grow to be effective. Do not stop here, let the word go forth that we are in a battle for our country and protesting is the only way until the midterms.

  24. Keep going! This is the only action we can take that isn’t escalatory. If they want civility they HAVE TO comply. If they don’t, things will get unruly, that’s just how it goes.

    This isn’t the first time in history when a ruler sucks and the people want change. We know which directions this goes.

  33. For those thinking this is for nothing here’s the thing…

    Yes, the administration could care less about the size and amount of these protests. Yes, the media could not cover them the way they should. Yes, the administration could also declare martial law to unload on protesters in the future…

    I am someone who votes, volunteers during elections, and tries to get others to actively register and I definitely fell into a hole during this recent election cycle and the outcome. I tend to have the mindset now and again of, “This will do nothing.”

    But then I remember the rest of the world is watching. Others who have been apathetic and sitting it all out have been watching. The more we grow with each protest or general strike, the harder we are to ignore. And if the administration or media doesn’t care, the rest of the world still needs to see that we aren’t just here in the states with our heads in the sand allowing these monsters to take over. There is a human to human solidarity in all this. It also helps the mental health of citizens here and citizens abroad to continue to find new ways to keep fighting. It keeps morale up. They don’t want that, they want us to stay asleep while they burn the hundreds of years of progress we’ve made as a nation.

    We made this country for freedom and no kings. That freedom is for everyone, we can’t just throw our hands up and cower in fear.

    So go to that protest, grow a local community from it and find others that feel the way you do. This will help your morale and your community’s morale as a whole. Eventually these groups will grow making things like larger general strikes happen in the future that will have a massive impact.This country may seem extremely mean spirited now but in our hearts the majority of us aren’t like that and care for their fellow humans. We protest with the hope of a better future and for those that are already impacted by this administration’s policies who are helpless right now. We protest so others around the world can see and condemn these patterns of authoritarianism that capitalism loves to slip into.

  35. My red state family texted me and asked if I was going- they are NOT political- but knew this was happening , encouraged me to go and said they’d were attending theirs in Arkansas.
    Numbers is not the point. This is only the beginning. We need this.

  37. I was proud. Where I live, people turned out in numbers that none of us were expecting. Nothing got out of control. People were kind. People were feeding on the energy. I haven’t felt that good in a long time.

  38. I saw mostly 40 – 70 year olds in my tiny northern michigan town of 1,000 people, granted it’s the county seat, had close to 100 people there in solidarity in demonstration. The guys who tried to kidnap our democratic governor are from this county!. Glad to see support.

  41. My little town had probably 1000 people come out to protest across from our maga extremist representative’s local office, the most I’ve ever seen since I’ve been living here the past 10 years.
