  1. Before the full-scale war, Dmytro Shybanov worked as a chef in a Spanish restaurant and planned to visit Ukraine to see his loved ones once his contract ended. However, when he saw on social media that Russia had launched its invasion, he didn’t hesitate — he immediately returned home and joined the military. His knowledge of Spanish helped him become a squad commander in an assault battalion of the 3rd International Legion.

    **Dmytro was killed in Donetsk Oblast in March 2024, just six days after this conversation was recorded.**
