TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A group of four lawmakers from Luxembourg arrived in Taiwan on Sunday.

The delegation includes Stephanie Weydert, Ben Polidori, Liz Braz, and Ricardo Marques. During their six-day visit, the lawmakers are scheduled to meet with Vice Premier Cheng Li-chun (鄭麗君), Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Ming-chi (陳明祺), and Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Yuan Johnny Chiang (江啟臣).

According to a press release, this is the first time since the global pandemic began in 2019 that lawmakers from Luxembourg have organized a cross-party delegation to Taiwan. The group plans to hold in-depth discussions on Taiwan-Luxembourg relations and Taiwan’s current economic and security environment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) extended a warm welcome to the European lawmakers for visiting Taipei to explore issues of mutual interest. Taiwan also expressed gratitude to Luxembourg for its continued support over the years, including its 2024 vote in favor of Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Assembly.

MOFA said it hopes the visit will further strengthen bilateral ties and that Luxembourg will continue to advocate on Taiwan’s behalf within the European Union.
