1. Several Russian spy teams have recently been caught monitoring our naval and airforce bases in country.

   And those Russian ships we’ve been shadowing passing by our shores have been caught dropping sensors to detect our naval assets, including Trident.

   They’re getting real. So should we.

2. I thought I read/heard his troops were depleted because of the Ukraine situation and that he is recruiting prisoners.

5. Its not the middle ages you can’t just usher people off to war like slaves.

   These people are always talking about how faith and willingness to serve have declined but never actually why. If the quality of life is just getting worse and worse, it’s very much valid to ask why anyone should want to go off and die in a ditch in Eastern Europe. I’ll be miserable either way, so I’d rather be miserable in my own country not freezing to death.

   Im young, all I’ve ever known is how things are supposedly getting worse from any and all sides. What exactly would I be fighting for? Backing the lesser of two evils isn’t exactly an enticing incentive for people to go off and risk getting blown to pieces by a drone, especially when you don’t have any faith in returning to a country where things may actually improve afterwards.

   Either make things better or you can join us, I’d say. I wouldn’t mind going that much just to see Farage and co shitting themeselves, but we know the warmongers of the modern era are never the ones actually fighting.

7. If we keep basically saying we want to go ton war with Russia but need US to hold our hands we can’t act all surprised when Russia start preparing for that scenario.

9. Putin can’t even take a country like Ukraine, he would last about five minutes against NATO even without the USA.

    Look at who funds Farage / Aaron Banks.

    Russia wants to create a Trump 2.0 situation in other countries as it is easier to remotely control a country through dictatorship than democracy.

    The evidence that America has been compromised is everywhere.

    We need to realise the threat that is occurring within our own media sphere as well and how Farage is a fifth column.

12. Does anyone know someone who has joined the military in response to what they perceive as an existential threat? I haven’t. This must be the widest gap between rhetoric and action in history.

13. It’s time we made a national guard.

    Thousands and thousands of young men and middle aged dads, sworn to protect only the UK.

    Young males need role models. Now they can have that.

    It’s a win win.

14. Isn’t the point of our nuclear weapons to deter anyone from going to war with us. If Russia attacks us they become dust and so do we. Otherwise what’s the point of our nuclear deterrence

15. If they can’t beat Ukraine through donated weapons on their own doorstep, how on Earth do they think they could take Europe? I mean, just trying to take Poland would take an ungodly amount of resources, and that’s without taking into account article 5 (even without the US) bringing all of Europe into defence.

16. Can someone explain to me the point in nuclear weapons if we will just fight real wars with other nuclear powers anyway? Isn’t the point of them to stop the threat of a war or invasion since someone could just nuke the other side.

17. I’m no military expert, but the UK going to war with Russia in the traditional sense seems unlikely – it’s struggling to fight a war against one country that literally borders it. Does Russia really think it can open, maintain, and win multiple fronts against the rest of Europe?

    The biggest threat Russia presents seems to be the targeting of civilian and military infrastructure using things like cyber attacks, and damaging the political establishment with things like Brexit. Whether you think Russia seeded that or not, they definitely took advantage of separating the UK internally and weaking our ties with the rest of the EU.

19. Forgive me but how is it even possible to fight an actual war against a nuclear power? What’s the point in the increase of military personnel and equipment if the war could theoretically be over within minutes if someone pushes the big red button?

20. I cannot imagine how this country could be less ready for war. An obese country, where ~30% of under 25s are foreign born or have foreign parents, an economy that is 80% service based and that has the some of the highest energy costs in the developed world with a political and media class who still think its 1925.

Or is it a pre-cursor when American troops flood in to say they need to secure our borders, then proceed to rinse us for every soldiers livlihood and practice bullet fired. Let’s face it- America can never allow a million troops home in peace. They will have to keep training and paying for a war machine nobody is interested in fighting. So someone had to fund its upkeep and buy old stock. If we had all Supported Ukraine the proper way, there would have been no chance for these threats to have been needed, with many innocent lives saved.

22. Always the former bosses saying this sort of stuff. It’s almost like now it’s not their job they can say any radical bullshit and then carry on about their day watching antiques roadshow or whatever.

23. Why is Russia so obsessed with us specifically? Out of all the other countries in Europe, why do they always try to threaten or diminish Britain? Every time Putin or of one of his goons threatens war or expansion they always make sure to mention us in some way.

25. Why is there never a conversation about the reality of a war between 2 nuclear armed nations. Surely a fighting forces war is just an silly opening ceremony to what is about to come.

26. War is expensive, and Russia is on its arse. Even those still trading with them are watching their wallets now as the world economy takes a nose dive. Russia simply can’t afford to expand into any more conflict. Ukraine alone has already got Russia financially on its knees. Putin simply has ambitions he can’t afford in both money and men. He’ll carry on being nasty and poking us, but he’s a paper tiger for the foreseeable future. He’s not going to last forever either. The general Russian population might have fallen for his bullshit about Ukraine, but they don’t want WW3 either. Attacking regular European countries simply isn’t going to wash. We’ve had three years of excuses to start shooting, and haven’t fired a shot. Even without the US, he knows NATO is formidable. It’s why he doesn’t want it next door. We’re serious, but fortunately for him we play by the rules. Even his cabal of criminals would think he’d lost it if he made a move against Western Europe. It’s too much of a pointless gamble even for him. Even Trump would wash his hands of him, and China certainly wouldn’t approve, as they don’t want some of their best customers nuking each other.

27. Its time the british follow their historical past and restore the privateer business. A Million pounds for every shadow tanker sunken and the seas will get rough for Russians around Africa and Asia.
