Citizens Energy Group has successfully planted 10,000 trees as part of its sustainability initiatives aimed at improving environmental conditions in Indianapolis.

“With our program’s 10,000 trees now fully planted, we expect them to draw in millions of gallons of rainwater that would have otherwise entered our sewer system and then had to be treated,” Ben Easley from Citizens Energy Group said.

Citizens Energy Group has been actively involved in promoting sustainability through various programs and events.

One of their significant achievements is the completion of the Dig Indy tunnel system, which has already diverted over 6 billion gallons of wastewater from local rivers. The company is also involved in community engagement through events like Earth Day at the JCC and the Earth Day Indiana Festival in Garfield Park, where residents can learn more about sustainability efforts.

In addition to environmental initiatives, Citizens Energy Group offers financial assistance programs to help customers manage their utility bills and supports local organizations through grants and partnerships.

Citizens Energy Group’s efforts in tree planting and wastewater management represent a significant step towards a more sustainable and resilient community in Indianapolis. The completion of these projects is expected to have a lasting positive impact on the environment and local neighborhoods.
