This is the same argument people make when they say that implementing socialism will work this time of we do it right.
idk about 1828 but the great depression wasn’t caused by Smoot-Hawley (it started in 1929) but it definitely made it worse.
I don’t see evidence that the tariffs in 1828 created a depression. But it did lead to the [Nullification Crisis](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nullification_crisis) wherein South Carolina attempting to “nullify” the federal tariff (unilaterally declare the tariffs were invalid in the borders of South Carolina) and threatened to secede from the union. So there’s that at least.
Third time’s the charm, right 🙄
The point is **NOT TO MAKE YOU RICH** It’s to make the billionaires rich when they buy all of the assets for pennies on the dollar and privatize services into for-profit companies run by Oligarchs
So every 100 years, this happens. I felt there was some cycle to this.
They say Trump’s tariffs will cause “temporary pain”. I don’t know how they define temporary, but it took about a decade to recover from the 1930 tariffs. That was before our economy was so intertwined with the world economy.
My grandmother was 7 years old when the Great Depression hit. I remember her telling stories about her large family during the great depression. Her older brothers were always out looking for work. She said you didn’t want to be sitting at the end of the food line around the table or you may not get anything to eat that night. The great depression lasted for 10 years. Many of the people who experienced the great depression are gone. It’s why it is important to read history.
Just like multiple economists tried to warn Americans about the negative impact of Trump’s tariff and tax policies, there was widespread opposition to President Hoover’s tariffs that included a petition signed by more than 1,000 economists. No one listened to economists in the 1930’s and no one is listening now. So we all get to suffer the consequences together.
Yeah definitely, the third time is the charm. /s
Sorry to burst everyone’s buble touting this fact, but the Smoot-Hawley tariffs were introduced like 6 months after the market tanked in an attempt to relieve the on setting depression. Obviously they didn’t work and made things worse, but not really the same thing as creating a depression.
Every hundred years, folks need to get a little crazy …
Right, it’s because they have those fancy charts and tariffs back then. /s
there will be so much winning… you will be tired of winning…

Looks like it is done on purpose. You don’t do something over and over and expect a different outcome…….. unless………….
Trump, and his advisors, are misinformed. He will be playing golf while the rest of America burns.
3rd time’s the charm? 🤞🏽
good catch! At least the latest one is the most handsome lol

There is a gross miscalculation by the Trump administration formula, please read:
