We don’t see ‘iridescent’ used nearly enough on this sub. It’s used with perfect cromulence here.
Beautiful photo.
Surely there was a mob of these hooligan birds who arrive in your garden for a bit of argy bargy and then 5 mins later they’ve moved on? Such lively, funny birds.
I do love a starling. We get loads of them on our road. There’s a tree outside our living room window where some of them hang out and make their weird croaking noises ❤️
Gorgeous bird

We get them in our garden a lot. They’re gobby little buggers, and they know how to wind up my grumpy old cat. It’s funny to watch her get all flustered as they fly back and forth between the two fences
Thank you for this image. We also enjoy the starlings when they visit our back garden; once as a ‘flock’ so about 20 birds in garden at the same time. They have a most magnificent plumage.
What a great photo! Thank you.
I’ve been enjoying listening to the birds today and discovered via my bird song identification app that the greenfinches have been back to my feeder. I also saw that I’ve got a hedge warbler that I thought was a sparrow. Technology is great sometimes.
Well, isn’t this just divine. Starlings are gorgeous. Iridescence and mimickery, what better combination?

A criminally overlooked bird

A preferred alternative name I use; ‘Sparkle Tit’
Great photo
