It will snow in many parts of Latvia overnight on Saturday, with a few centimetres of snow in places, mainly in Vidzeme. During the day, it will continue to snow occasionally, and even snow a little in places, as strong northerly and north-easterly winds will blow, gusting 15-20 metres per second in many places.

The minimum air temperature at night will be -2 C to +2 C, the maximum during the day +1 C to +5 C.

On Sunday, the sky will clear, the weather will be sunnier, precipitation is not expected, and the wind will also slow down but still be gusty.

With clearer skies and slower winds, frost will intensify overnight, with minimum temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees, down to -8 degrees in Vidzeme, where snow will cover the ground. During the day, temperatures will range between +2 C and +7 C.

The weather will remain chilly early next week. A slight frost is expected at night, and in the afternoon temperatures will reach +2 to +6 degrees, and +7 to +8 degrees in parts of Kurzeme.

Forecasts for how long the cold wave will last are still variable. Some scenarios predict that the warmth may return very quickly around 12-13 April, but some scenarios predict that the cold weather may continue until Easter, with a few more snowy days possible before then.
