Retail sales in Hungary increased by 3.3% year-on-year in February 2025, slowing from a 4.7% rise in the previous month.

All subcomponents showed moderated growth, namely automotive fuel (0.4% vs. 1.9% in January), food, beverages, and tobacco (3.5% vs. 4.7%), and non-food products (5.0% vs. 5.6%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail activity fell by 0.6% in February, easing from a 2.2% gain in the prior period.

For the first two months of the year, retail trade was 4% higher compared to the same period last year.
