European Union prepares ‘strong plan’ to hit back at Trump’s tariffs • FRANCE 24 English

Donald Trump is calling it ‘Liberation Day’ for America, as he is set to launch new sweeping tariffs on April 2nd. European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said the bloc has a solid strategy for retaliation if the US imposes sweeping tariffs on it. However, she has stressed that a “negotiated solution” to avoid a trade war is preferable. Andrew Hilliar tells us more.

  3. As an American I would FULLY understand if the EU reduced Or eliminated as much trade with the US as possible. What the orange man is doing is unacceptable.

  4. A tariff war was a cause of the Great Depression. What a wonderful world all these elites and politicians have made for us. It's a worldwide problem, not just Trump. Too many people think they know the answer. And they don't.

  5. The the US is going to impose the same level of tariff that the other countries impose on the US….but this is seen as wrong? Good luck Europe

  6. Do your research and stop belittling other countries… There are too many Karens in the US, including me. There are things I agree with and others I don't.

    What happens when plans are made too quickly? From a business perspective.

    Ignoring potential problems and creating an unrealistic or unsustainable outlook results in disaster. Unbiased on all issues.

  10. Funny how the EU and Von der Leyen now calls tariff bad and will cause inflation when before they said tariffs on Chinese goods will not cause inflations lolz

  17. Does EU make many consumer products? I don't see many EU products here in Massachusetts USA. Only some German cars, French lady bags, Italian shoes and Swiss wristwatches? Those are considered being luxury items here, price change does not affect average Americans. For upper class Americans, tariff on EU products may affect them, but those people have money and they are insensitive to higher cost. What consumer products really flooding over here are from China, South Korea, Japan, etc,, Asian products, those are consumed by average Americans.

    Once they build their militaries up they will be back to fighting amongst themselves.

  30. If the EU is an equal global economy, why not have equal trade policies? The EU is stating what historically would be considered wartime rhetoric!

  33. American are super greedy. First of all the EU needs to stop Amazon, and other services like Uber and any service that makes tonnes of money without doing anything. Also Google has to be Europeanised and stop giving advantage to the US.

  34. Mam, you been destroying Europe over the last decade. You were more damaging than any tariff could ever be. You should have implemented tariffs against Asia overcapacity many years ago but you let your industrial base collapse.
