   Walmart has issued a public response to a growing nationwide boycott [that began Monday,](https://www.newsweek.com/walmart-boycott-customer-protest-2056133) as some Americans pledge to avoid the retail giant for a week in protest over a range of economic and political grievances.

   “Serving communities is at the heart of [Walmart](https://www.newsweek.com/topic/walmart)’s purpose to help people save money and live better,” the company said in a statement shared with *Newsweek*.

4. I’m more curious why Newsweek has been posting this for days and now posting this on reddit. There has been no talk outside of newsweek pushing this boycott.
