Even Exxon, an oil leviathan, funded studies into it as late as the 1980s. We knew how bad it was going to get but damn is money much more enticing.
Roger Revelle testified before congress in 1957.

The people didn’t want their elected officials to talk about climate change. In fact, they didn’t want the scientists talking about climate change so much they sent death threats and called them alarmists.
We live in a democracy our politicians. We will take climate change seriously when our majority population takes it seriously. 🙄
I learned about the possible effects of climate change from 1958’s [“The Unchained Goddess,”](https://imgur.com/gallery/I5z2khv).
There’s a paper about greenhouse gases published in like 1920

We’ve known about it since 1896 when Svante Arrhenius wrote a paper about it.
The first US wide Earth Day was in 1970
