Rabat – French police are investigating the murder case of an 18-year-old Moroccan man who was stabbed during a brawl on Sunday in Chambery, an Alpine town in southeast France.
AFP reported today that police said the man was found unconscious last night with a stab wound in his back.
He died shortly after he arrived at a local hospital.
Police in France said the man was known to the judicial system as he was residing illegally in the European country.
The perpetrators are on the run, AFP said, without providing further information on their identities.
Mayor Thierry Repentin said in a statement that such “violence is unbearable and intolerable,” adding that all state resources are being mobilized for the ongoing investigation.
“We must place our trust in the judicial process to shed light on the circumstances of this tragedy,” he said, urging everyone to show restraint, including on social media.
He concluded that no information has been provided on the motive behind the homicide at this stage.
