I guarantee the message will be “look the cost of living is going up, it’s not going away. We just need to move on with life,” _a lot_ sooner than we think.
Look at partygate. It’s like it never happened.
It didn’t work though, the crisis is just too big for dead cat strategies to be enough anymore. Unless we choose to send troops directly to Ukraine, nothing is going to knock the cost of living crisis off the front pages any time soon. With so many people affected, including much of the middle class, it is a fool’s errand to try and find ways to distract people with other stories.
