  15. Well, duh. Of course China wouldn’t kowtow to Trump’s absurd threats. That’s like China 101.

    Trump’s strategy is going to leave the world with a fractured, loose trading network where a random collection countries (like Vietnam) that have kowtowed to Trump’s bluster will be greatly favored while others regroup in blocks that leave out the US.

    There will be coherent trading blocks with the US and no economic power counter to China as we’ve alienated our closest allies.

  17. I was interested to see that India thinks they can make a deal with Trump to get their tariffs reduced. China is definitely hoping this happens because China will then move production to India to serve the US market. No way China moves production lines to America with their minimum wage – but India is another story. China moves their US bound production to India, still pays crap wages and avoids safety regulations, and sends goods to America with the reduced tariffs that India negotiates. Win win for everyone but Trump

They are very unlikely to bend the knee, knowing that American consumers are not loyal to this administration and will eventually capitulate, rioting or some such thing – or eventually electing a Congress willing to reverse the tariffs.

If he truly wants China to ‘cooperate’, he could have gotten his Cabinet members to have a secret call with the top CCP leadership to find a middle ground. Instead Trump chose to announce it like an idiot & except sane minds on the other side of the world to heed & bow to him.

    And there is absolutely no way the CCP will relent to Trump’s threat because they can’t be seen as weak in the eyes of their people. And Xi has ambitions to be a global leader so he must be thankful now the US has an idiot in charge.

    Tariffs raise the cost of items entering a country. China will win this exchange, and Trump is a complete and utter moron.
