Netherlands LED Lamp Imports
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of LED lamps increased by 1.9% to 61M units in 2024. In general, total imports indicated notable growth from 2017 to 2024: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the last seven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, imports decreased by -43.5% against 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 108M units in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2024, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, LED lamp imports fell to $129M (IndexBox estimates) in 2024. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 76% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $279M. From 2019 to 2024, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2024, China (40M units) constituted the largest LED lamp supplier to the Netherlands, with a 66% share of total imports. Moreover, LED lamp imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (8.9M units), fivefold. France (3.8M units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6.3% share.
From 2017 to 2024, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+38.0% per year) and France (+22.4% per year).
In value terms, China ($68M) constituted the largest supplier of LED lamps to the Netherlands, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Poland ($18M), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with an 8.3% share.
From 2017 to 2024, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China totaled -5.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Poland (+17.8% per year) and France (+14.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2024, the led lamp price amounted to $2.1 per unit (CIF, Netherlands), reducing by -6.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a deep reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 9.5% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3.4 per unit. From 2019 to 2024, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2024, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3.2 per unit), while the price for China ($1.7 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2017 to 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
