Tourism in Belarus is one of the priority areas for investment – as noted by Director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatisation Dmitry Krasovsky at a press conference dedicated to the 3rd Belarusian-Russian Tourism Congress
Mr. Krasovsky noted that the National Agency of Investment and Privatisation can be described as a window for investors. Among other things, it works with potential financial partners at the business idea stage.
“Today, 74 investors from 21 countries with the potential to invest $0.5bn and create 2,000 jobs are being accompanied. Tourism is one of our priority sectors,” Mr. Krasovsky emphasised.
So far, however, the number of projects related to the hospitality industry is insignificant. These include the construction of a multifunctional hotel in Minsk, the creation of a SPA complex, a project to build a tent city and the installation of observation binoculars in the capital.
“Belarus is willing to support tourism, e.g., one of the products of the Development Bank is aimed at small businesses. As a member of the working group that selects projects, I know that the task is to support ideas in the regions, primarily in the field of production; services are not considered. The only exception is tourism, which is just as important as industrial production in the regions,” he added. “A number of projects have already been selected. They are small hotels, complexes and park hotels that will be supported by this instrument.”
