Throw him into a hole and throw away the key so we never have to hear anything from/about him again.
Am I weird for actually finding this headline a bit shocking?
Feels like a Pepe Le Pew situation.
His late game switch to right wing Christian grifter to try and avoid people calling him a rapist was fucking hilarious to witness.
Like no you transparent fuck, no one is buying this.
Fox News article describes rape as “non-consensual sexual encounters” at the beginning of the article. Pure trash.
However what’s much more interesting is this:
“You can go and watch my stand-up comedy. You can read my book. I couldn’t have been more clear that I was out there having sex with anybody who wanted to.”
What he’s saying here is that his behavior should come as no surprise to people who are familiar with his material since the material describes his behavior. I think this is super interesting. Basically what he’s saying is that his comedy should be taken literally.
This is exactly the opposite of what people who rail against cancel culture say. They say “it’s just a joke bro“ and we shouldn’t get mad about jokes. However there’s often a blurring of the line between jokes in reality. Jokes often work because there is a kernel of truth. They reflect beliefs held by the comedian in many cases. Or at least, this is what Russell Brand is saying.
I don’t want to start a conversation about cancel culture or comedy. I think it’s more interesting that these right wing comedians want it both ways. They want to be able to say what they want without criticism but then if things go wrong, they want their comedy to serve as an alibi. They want it to be taken literally. But only when that’s convenient. That’s a lot of hypocrisy even for a group that is known for hypocrisy.
I mean it is one of the main reasons most people want to be famous. Sex and money
I’d call someone a comedian if they were funny. He’s more of a professional douche.
It’s a bold move Cotton, let’s see how it works out for him!
And I’m sure he ‘bothered’ to become a christian after finding out he was being investigated for his past sins was just as sincere.
Prison will not be kind when they know about underage girls. He better hope for a long Brit sentence.
He’s trying the hiding in plain sight approach of Saville*, who he met and was almost mates with. ‘I’ve said repeatedly how often I had sex, I’ve been completely open about all of this, I have nothing to hide’.
*Same as Michael Jackson, being open about it to remove the suspicion.
I was shocked by the rape allegations on Brand, not many people say that. People think he’s a nob and he’s obviously a grifter now but in the Trews days I don’t think he was. I figured him too honest and self aware to be snidey basically or care about power. How early he was setting up a new avenue to make a living is unclear, YouTube wasn’t the same then. It would be because he knows once the allegations come out the film and voice roles will disappear.
I feel sorry for straight men sometimes. Imagine having to go through all the trouble to get famous just so you can have lots of sex. Gay dudes can get it anytime, anywhere.
That guy sucks so bad
