Many evangelicals believe in the prosperity gospel. They believe Trump is rich because he’s chosen by God and poor people are only poor because God hates them.
They also believe by giving all their money to rich people, as an expression of faith, they will then be blessed by God and then also become rich.
Last, they believe Democrats, who don’t want to punish the poor are literally controlled by Satan. Satan must be stopped at all costs.
This explains much of today’s conservative party.

An acquaintance of mine said that “sometimes God chooses imperfect men to carry out his will.” and proceeded to name famous biblical shitheads. That’s where the argument dies, because she’s right, biblically he does choose many pieces of shit to work through. But holy shit is it annoying. What “Godly” work is he even doing? ffs
