I never knew about the wooden spoon thing as it was never a thing in our house. I remember many years ago me, my brother were in a friends house and suddenly the friend began to panic when his mother and sister threaten him with a wooden spoon.
Then he ran to hide. Me and my brother couldn’t understand why and couldn’t stop laughing. If we ever got out of way then we’d get a leather belt.
