BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -The aftermath of severe flooding continues to impact local businesses in Bowling Green.
Marshall Beach, the owner of Hog Wild Barbecue, is one of many who has seen his property severely damaged. Beach shared the hardships he’s facing as he attempts to salvage both his home and business.
“We stayed that night, but the next morning, the water had risen to about my deck… it kept coming up,” said Beach, describing the heavy rain that preceded the flooding. “We woke up and the water was almost coming in the door.”
The floodwaters left nearly two feet of water in the lower part of his home, damaging furniture, tools, and essential equipment for his business. His garage, where he stored valuable generators for his barbecue operations, was submerged under five feet of water. Unfortunately, the floodwaters destroyed his generators, forcing Beach to halt his business.
“This is the first time I’ve had to shut down my business,” Beach said. “I’ve never had to do this before until this happened.”
Despite these setbacks, his determination to reopen as soon as possible remains strong.
“I’m more concerned about taking care of my customers once this is all over with,” Beach explained. “I hope to be back up and running in a couple of weeks, and we’ll be back to doing what I love: BBQ.”
Beach’s resilience highlights his deep connection to his business and the community.
“I’ve been doing this for over 20 years. It’s my passion,” he added. “I enjoy meeting people, talking to people. This business is more than just a job — It’s what I love to do.”
While the community has shown support, offering prayers and donations, Beach’s focus is on returning to normalcy as soon as possible. However, the recovery process is ongoing, with Beach working closely with local officials for guidance.
