If other countries hold the same views as Singapore PM, it is likely that US be the odd ball in the party . They can continue to be MAGA in their own island .
But we need alternatives to US service companies, Apple / MS … etc
What do you think ? Somehow it feels it is not a bad thing for the world.

The PM is 100% correct. The old world order is over. The reasons have been ignored for decades, and the future is what we seen now as irrational behaviour.
Politicians took the easy route before. Now there is no place to hide as more hard right politicians take over.
I listened to this yesterday. The most honest and articulate words from a leader I have heard in years. Makes me jealous of Singapore.
As horrific as it is to say it. Trump has done the world a favour. No more american exceptionalism ruining the world
I thought this speech was superb. I love his vocabulary and fluency but he is also succinct and clear. National leaders often go wrong and go bad but the Singapore PM impressed me with a calm frank wake up call to the country.
That was a good speech.
If America has broken the WTO rules, why don’t they just boot them out, America wants the fight, everyone else in the WTO can give it to them.
All we lose is American Trade, it would really impact digital products, but I am sure there are plenty waiting in the wings to step in, and this gives them the chance.
Imagine pissing away your Monopoly because you don’t understand how business works, and behave like a petulant child. And they are never coming back from this, some people might have forgotten what the Nazi’s did 80 years ago, but the world isn’t going to forget this anywhere near as soon I don’t think.
Your Presidency can be bought, and your population to stupid to know it.
excellent
Fantastic speech. This is what conviction in doing the right thing looks like. No need to attack or insult those who choose a different path. Just be resolute in going your own way and form a coalition of the like-minded. In the end he may well find himself on the right side of history and the US could see their global influence diminish from here on in. More leaders should be calm, courageous and articulate like this one. I hope media can just concentrate on the facts rather than rely on spin as is the case in the US and the UK.
Trump wanted to unite the United States, but instead, he united the world against the US 😂😂
OMG thank god. He’s great at explaining the global situation in a way I understand.
I’ve not looked into Trumps debacle but for Singapore to have a free trade agreement and still gets a 10% tarrif does not make a lot of sense,
Very well said, that man. The old order has gone.
Good to see a refusal to play Trump’s stupid games.
Nice to see the UK mentioned too. UNITY is important!
Why do all other leaders sound eloquent and educated. Trump sounds like a fool out of his depth.
That’s leadership. Singapore has a good track record of electing educated and thoughtful leaders since independence.

So from my understanding this is actually the general sentiment around the world – both from economists and parliamentarians. China are able to be a bit more forceful because they have the financial resources to go “F U” to the US.
This belief is kind of why the markets rebounded today, the other economies will open up more to other trading partners, knowing that by the time anyone could actually set up substantial supply chains solely in the US (meaning that demand from the US is not going to significantly drop) there is likely to be a different leader in charge in the US. This means either normal trading relationships will resume – or possibly more likely everyone else has a stronger bargaining position when it comes to doing deals with the US.
Trump’s seeming obsession with no one buying US cars has made people realise that he is arguing from a position of (at best) ignorance into why other countries are not needing to have a host of vehicles that are predominantly oversized for their motor infrastructure.
He admits that the global trade system is in need of reform. But he doesn’t seem to have any suggestions of what that reform might look like.
Interesting speech.
People keep talking about needing alternatives to Apple , Microsoft, Amazon etc . Remember these companies loyalty to the US only goes so far. If they MAGA them selves in to a big enough hole then those businesses might just decide they don’t want to be American anymore
Impressive orator
Great share, very insightful, which clearly explains the current global situation. It feels strange to listen to an intelligent honest world leader instead of trying to put a positive spin on it
So Trump wants to bring businesses back to the US and create jobs, wealth, etc etc. but who is going to buy all these products after he’s alienated the whole world against him.
“Alternatives to US service companies “ there are many better companies than US companies. All the Chinese, and Asian manufacturers and some socials. The European companies that provide browsers, email, some social, and general software services. These are all better and user focused and secure than any US company.
