  1. A good, short article, the less we use something the more it dies seems to be his point. Jason Cowley is a really good writer. 

  2. I can’t see the premise of this article.

    Royal Mail used to make the substantive majority of it’s money from letters, postcards, christmas cards etc.

    Royal Mail has priced itself out of the market; when a cheap card costs half the cost of the stamp it’s unsurprising that most people don’t bother posting letters. Even contracts etc have switched to electronic signatures, as it’s cheaper.

    Royal Mail’s cash cow is gone and won’t be coming back, and so it is reduced to being yet another parcel company delivering stuff bought online, combined with additional obligations such as the universal service obligation etc.

  3. Sold off to foreign people then allowed to rot for profit? That does sound about right actually.
