This isn’t a new idea, Heathrow even has provision to build multiple rail links to the south and west
It kinda sucks that it’s not connected west either.
If you’re coming from Swindon, Bristol, Cheltenham, Gloucester, you basically can’t get to Heathrow without taking 3 trains or going all the way into Paddington first.
LET THE INVASION COMMENCE
The game being “getting to Surrey a little bit quicker”. It’s hardly the fecking moon is it. I’d personally prefer it to be much harder for people from Surrey to get to central London.
The Elizabeth Line is great but I think London should focus on delivering Crossrail 2. A north to south line is desperately needed to relieve the underground and is an opportunity to connect underserved areas and built transit oriented development
Maybe they should work on fewer trains being terminated at Paddington
Are we just re-inventing national rail at this point
Hehe this’ll trigger the northerners! That is, if they could read…
> Sophie Chapman, the airport’s surface access director, said ministers “have made it clear that there is no Government money for either of those schemes”. She added: “We support both the schemes. We need to do our work on expanding Heathrow [first], to understand what we need to achieve in terms of mode share [of passengers travelling to the airport].”
Stretch it past Abbey Wood and into Dartford too ta
