
Nikolaos Theseus, wealthy merchant from Nicosia who donated all his property to the Greek Revolution of 1821. He recruited and trained philhellenes, traveled to Greece himself and became one of Ypsilantis’ most notable personal officers. He was also one of the leaders of the 1833 revolt in Cyprus.

The 1833 revolt in Cyprus was a tax revolt. The church did it’s darndest to fight it.
