Business working to recover from flooding while helping clients do the same

  • 10.04.2025

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – Businesses along the Kentucky River are working to clean up after the flooding.

That includes The Basement Doctor in Frankfort. The business is working to rebuild what was lost, while helping clients do the same.

For more than 30 years, The Basement Doctor has worked to keep countless homes across central Kentucky dry when flooding happens. However, this week, owner Bobby Miles says they’ve embarked on new territory.

“I just never thought it would be us,” said Miles.

Several feet of water got inside the building Miles owns, where The Basement Doctor and other businesses are.

He says this’ll be at last half a million dollars in repairs to get the building back to normal.

Miles says for people whose homes or businesses were flooded, it’s ideal to get in there to cut affected drywall out as soon as possible, and to run dehumidifiers in those spaces to prevent mold from growing.

“We’re having to balance. I need people in here, and I need people out there helping our customers,” Miles said. “We have been 24/7 since last Thursday.”

Miles says through this disaster… he’s still managing to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

“I had my ladies in my office yesterday, their desk array, covered in water, tears were flowing, and I just told them, look, it’s going to be okay,” said Miles. “Know that tomorrow is going to be a brighter day. You will survive this; it can be rebuilt, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do. We’re gonna stay here for our customers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week forever, as long as we can.”
