  1. Where’s the news. It’s a daily occurrence. Should have reported an uninsured car parked on the public road

  2. Ultra wealthy and lose a watch? The Met can’t fall over themselves fast enough.

Track a thief to a room with stolen goods and … They couldn’t care less.

  3. I tracked my motorbike to the mums house of the guy that stole it and the Police did fuck all

  4. Can’t be expecting police to do their jobs, don’t be silly

  5. Uh oh, a story that mentions hotels

    Racist bots in 3…2…

  6. If the police don’t get their act together one of two things will happen

    1. Theft becomes basically legalised, everyone pays for huge insurance premiums, the wealthy get private security who are basically heavies
    2. People take matters into their own hands and issue violent retribution to people who may or may not be the actual perpetrators

  7. I had my AirPods stolen by a royal mail worker. I left them abroad in a hotel, was shipped back to the uk and tracked the AirPods. Could see them in the Royal Mail sorting office. Then got delivered an empty package!
I tracked them to a house, then a pub. Contacted the police who wasn’t interested, just said to make a complaint to Royal Mail?!? Then I saw the AirPods again the sorting office the following day.
I went there and could track them to an individual car (only a few in the car park and l was so close I could see the battery). Took a photo of the car and took to a manager who confirmed it was a personal car of a staff member who was working there.
Thankfully the Royal Mail were great. Investigated it, guy admitted it and I got them back. But police were no use at all. Not sure what happened to the guy if he’s still working there but I suspect not.

  8. My sister bought a car that got stolen the next morning and after I tracked the car down I was threatened with being arrested if I took it back using the key.

    It’s a joke

  9. Joke that she only found out now police are useless when it comes to real crime

  10. You can’t have a police force that is quick to act and has the power to fully enforce the law based on some degree of common sense and give them a degree of authority and independence on decision making / actions, whilst having the current funding levels and legislation / policy that needs a form signing off for every decision.

  11. Utilising the quote staff helped me police didn’t I think is a fairly accurate way to describe the state of the place today, I’m not actually sure of what the role of the police is anymore because they can’t do anything unless you have done something crazy like drop a piece of litter or type something onto the Internet you shouldn’t have done… when it comes to crimes the traditional crimes which the police are there to at least assist with they only seem to be bothered when it gets really serious. It’s almost like they are happy to let the gangs and the criminals get away with everything.

  12. Police do not have the legal power to enter premises to search for stolen items, they’d need to apply for a warrant.
The Government is looking to change this though.

  13. I had a £150 voucher stole from my wife through our roommate a while back. We didn’t realise until maybe like 2 weeks after. But when we did we got the times, dates, and store the voucher was used. The police investigated. Got the cctv we confirmed it was him, then they left it there and wouldn’t proceed. The excuse was it wasn’t a big enough amount to continue. We were raging. They had it ALL. His signature on the receipt…. everything

  14. Behind a paywall. Can’t read, can anyone copy/paste?

  15. has been policy for a while to avoid confrontation over property, it’s ridiculous but not new
