why in the name of fuck is this tolerated. i’d say there’s a handful of people on this Island (outside of the people involved) who wouldn’t support a crackdown on this animal abuse AND blatant disregard for other road users. like enough is enough. who is this protecting or enriching? build a sulky track in Limerick like the one they have in Portmarnock and let them at it.

I see sulkies on the Killarney bypass every day. I wonder if they are getting ready for a race. Wouldn’t surprise me if we saw a scene like this in the next few days. Pavee Point would have us believe they are all horse whisperers and guardians of ancient knowledge and wisdom etc. etc, but whenever you hear of a case of shockingly cruel, stupid and ignorant abuse of animals, you can alway guess straight away which group is involved.

Can we all just admit that just because something is part of a culture, doesn’t mean its safe and should continue.
The level of disregard shown in the clip is insane and, whilst not the same degree, can unfortunately be seen on a nearly daily basis in areas. They are not licensed, or regulated. While their presence on Irish roads is part of our history. They add an unnecessary element of danger to road users and the animal themselves.
Something needs to change and politicians and local Gardai need to nut up.

This has happened a few times here in Waterford too. Scandalous – nothing is every done. The least that should happen is that the other animals are taken away from them.
