16. Look, the Irish can believe what they want about whether or not they’re freeloading in the defence space but can you really consider yourself an independent country if this is, as in all cases since 1922, responded to by British military assets rather than Irish.

    Ireland has a proud tradition of soldiering and a laundry list of acts of military courage that could fill a library. It’s a crying shame that its armed forces are in such a state.
