CHISINAU (Moldova), April 10 (SeeNews) – Moldova’s consumer prices rose by 8.8% year-on-year in March, after increasing by 8.6% in the prior month, the statistical office said on Thursday.
Food prices rose by 9% on the year in March, prices of non-food goods increased by 3%, while prices of services grew 17.1%, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a statement.
On a monthly comparison basis, Moldova’s consumer prices added 0.59% in March, following a 0.24% increase in February. Food prices climbed by 1.54% on the month, accounting for an increase of 55 basis points (bp) in average consumer prices, while non-food prices inched down by 0.3%. Prices of services rose by a monthly 0.57%.
Last month, Moldova’s central bank decided to hold its monetary policy rate at 6.5%.
