  1. In what world is feeding people a bad thing?!

We truly are doomed, aren’t we?

  2. Tell me the mayor is Republican without telling me he’s Republican.

  3. Yeah, let’s just stop trying to help people all together who need it most. Bold platform to stand on. What a POS.

  4. This happened in my town with a brew pup that had a donation jar to run a daily pot of soup they would give away to anyone who wanted it. The city threatened to label the pub a “nuisance property” and start fining them unless they stopped. Same thing with the local library “offering too many services to the homeless”.

In this country, homelessness is a crime and helping the homeless makes you an accessory.

  5. My favorite Video Game character’s (Luigi) favorite song is “Shot Through the Heart”

  6. “Shot through the kitchens and your to blame. Darling, you give restaurants a bad name” this mayor (probably)

  7. Hasnt this restaurant been around for quite some time? Isnt the business model “pay what you can”? Or am i thinking of another celebrity with a similar restaurant?

  8. I’ve eaten at his Soul Kitchen location in Red Bank. You can pay (or not), pay it forward for additional meals (or not), or volunteer your time as payment (or not). The food is locally sourced, including from their gardens around the premises, and was delicious. The seating is family style so that you are encouraged to talk with people who might otherwise not have much social connections. It was a fantastic experience

  9. To date, JBJ Soul Kitchen has served over 208,000 meals, with 59 percent of the meals earned through customers volunteering and 41 percent paid with donations, per its official website.

I’m tempted to suggest 208 000 kicks in the mayor’s butt. I volunteer.

    Sincerely

    Skeletor 💜

  10. MAGA logic

    >Charities should be the ones providing aid to the indigent.

Aging rockstar opened a restaurant **with the intention to feed the homeless and destitute.**

    Also MAGA

    >Let me order the closing of a restaurant that serves as charity for the poor and indigent.

MAGA can’t have it both ways.

  11. This is how you know these people hate vulnerable people. This is a private citizen doing what they want with their own money

  12. If he doesn’t want homeless people, then maybe he should fucking do something to help them instead of bitching about someone who’s doing just that.

  13. Can’t show people that problems have possible solutions that cost them almost nothing

  14. Going up against a beloved local legend doing an act of charity out of his own money is a really stupid political move.

  15. Some people take up too much space in the world. These poor bashing pieces of shit are at the top of that list.

  16. We don’t have enough billionaires. Let’s give them some more tax cuts. Maybe the richest person on earth can have an office in the White House? I’m just spitballing here. Some market manipulation? Anything goes.

  17. Man, stop trying to actively harm the homeless. They need someone to care for them and help them back onto their feet if thats something they want. People act like homelessness is a moral failing – that you’re homeless because you deserve it. Lots of people get super unlucky or have horrible things happen to them every day and wind up homeless. A lot of the most horrible people you imagine end up rich, but we act like they deserve the money they have.

  18. Roderick, a Republican middle school teacher, is currently on leave due to doing official major business while teaching classes. He took the classic “it’s a witch hunt” as his defense strategy.

Sounds like Roddy is a dick…

  19. JBJ is the most boring rockstar ever but he seems like a good enough human, good on him.

  20. The mayor is not concerned with the homeless or the hungry. The mayor is not concerned with Jon Bon Jovi running an eatery.

The Mayor is worried about lost tax dollars and the possibility of increased homeless and hungry people coming to town without money to pay into the tax base.

If more places opened like this nationwide we would reduce food insecurity eliminating the mayors fear of lost money.

  21. “To date, JBJ Soul Kitchen has served over 208,000 meals, with 59 percent of the meals earned through customers volunteering and 41 percent paid with donations,”

Good on em, way to go JBJ

  22. I’ve eaten there! What a great place and I hope it continues.

  23. Cruelty has become a key American value, now. I hate it here.

  24. Jesus Christ. These cities/ counties/ states and their war on the homeless is insane

  25. We need to bring back public shaming . No violence . Just make his day miserable wherever he goes . Bad coffee, boos , shitty service . Til they start acting like an actual human

  26. Why in the hell are politicians so allergic to people who need help? You’d think that being homeless carried a fucking deadly disease with the way these people act.

Oh no, a local business helps to make sure someone doesn’t starve and die on the streets! How dare Jon and Dorothea!

  27. Don’t fuck with Bon Jovi helping the community members the government neglects.

  28. What a fucking ghoul, man. One guess what that mayor’s political affiliation is.

  29. No country actively despises its people quite like America

  30. Eat shit Rodrick. God fucking forbid we take care of those who are less fortunate than us.
