The estonian borderguard will try to stop you(radars and they have a very good overview of who is on the lake). If you are caught with a border violation then you will get a fine.
If you are caught by the russian borderguard then your boat will be confiscated, you will end up in jail for an unknown time for legal proceedings and at the end your boat will be offered back to you at market value. So the borderguard will either pocket the money or get the boat.
Souce: My parents live next to Peipsi lake and this is from real life situations.
You’ll get a free tour of Russian prison system, at worst case and find out if you’re “mužik” or “petukh” (prison caste)
Have a try and you will find out.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

If you really want to know, maybe you belong on the other side anyway.
Best case is a warning/fine from EE police. Worst case is death in RU prison system from some illness that should not exist anymore on Earth…
Straight to gulag
The borderguards will stop you on your boat when you are near border.
I have small summer house near Lämmijärv and this has happened to me before. They warned me with megaphone to turn around and so I did.
You’ll get bombarded by Russian artillery, chem weapons and cluster munitions and then u drown
Theres a ferry that goes back and forth. You can also walk across the ice during winter. I know someone who does this to visit theyr family.
If you make it to the river, comrade, you are already past the most dangerous checkpoints. But the final test lies ahead: crossing the grim Estonian frontier and reaching the golden embrace of mother Russia. If crossing the river wait for the early morning fog, use a simple inflatable boat, that you have painted matte gray. Bury all you electronic devices, even the biometric passports are detectable by the border radars. If choosing the lake route again wait for fog. It’s a cold swim, but Russian warmth awaits you comrade. Russian border guards greet asylum seekers with a hot mug of vodka and a firm bear hug. Documents? Only your story matters. Say you fled the West’s cold grip in search of real human spirit, and they’ll nod solemnly, ushering you in as a brother or sister. There’s a warm coat, a fresh passport, and perhaps even a home-baked pirozhki waiting.
What does the border look like in the middle of Peipsi?

Russian side has “The restricted access zone (generally 7.5 kilometres (4.7 mi) width, but running as much as 90 kilometres (56 mi) deep along the [Estonian border](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estonia%E2%80%93Russia_border))”.
So after swimming you need to quickly hide your boat and run 90km without bumping onto anyone on the way.
