Retail sales in Turkey rose by 12.2% year-on-year in February 2025, slowing from an upwardly revised 12.6% gain in the previous month.
This marked the weakest growth in retail trade since July 2024, as sales increased at a softer pace for food, beverages and tobacco in specialized stores (19.6% vs 20.2% in January), information and communication equipment in specialized stores (8.5% vs 16.6%), cultural and recreation goods in specialized stores (3% vs 10%), other household equipment in specialized stores (3.5% vs 8.9%), and sales via stalls and markets (10% vs 14%).
In addtion, sales decreased for automotive fuel in specialized stores (-0.5% vs 4%).
Meanwhile, sales accelerated for other goods in specialized stores (24.5% vs 21.9%) and sales not in stores, stalls/markets (6% vs 3.4%).
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail trade eased to 1.1% in February 2025 from 2% in the previous month.
