A new £5 item has sparked debate between Iceland shoppers after being spotted on supermarket shelves.

Since then Iceland’s new Kadayif Chocolate with Pistachio has ignited a debate between shoppers, with the post receiving 1.6k comments in less than 24 hours.

Some shoppers have taken to Facebook to praise the “delicious” new treat, while others have branded the chocolate bar as “over-priced”.

One Iceland shopper, Zoey Prosser, wrote: “I’m a mug that bought it and ate the whole bar before I’d left the car park and don’t regret it one bit – it was delicious.”

Shopper, Raby Jade added: “I’ve tried them. I thought they were nice and tasty”

Other Iceland shoppers took to the platform to express their excitement for the new product as Donna Dimittri wrote: “I need to get some.”

But other shoppers were less impressed with the new product and its price tag.

The new Kadayif Chocolate with Pistachio bar follows a number of pistachio-filled chocolate bars to hit supermarket shelves in the last month. Inspired by a middle-eastern treat which went viral on social media in recent months, these bars have been dubbed as ‘Dubai-style’.

Since landing on supermarket shelves ‘Dubai-style’ chocolate has started a craze with both Lidl and Waitrose stores imposing a two-per-customer restriction on their bars.

While Iceland’s new chocolate bar faced criticism from many for its price, one shopper took to Facebook to praise Iceland’s ‘Dubai-style’ chocolate bar for being cheaper than others.

Shopper Chris Staniford wrote : “Glad to see a cheaper version. I paid £13 for a bar of the Dubai one.”

Iceland’s new ‘Dubai-style’ chocolate bar comes in £5 cheaper than other retailer Waitrose, who have stocked the Lindt Dubai Style Chocolate Pistachio and Kadayif bar at £10, while Lidl offered their J.D. Gross Dubai Style Chocolate at £3.99 for Lidl Plus customers.
