1. To be fair, this is absurdly popular, and it’s a testament to the utter inadequacy of our government that it hasn’t happened yet.

   Although, to be clear, permanent standard time is obviously superior to permanent DST. Where I live in Portland, Oregon, [the sun wouldn’t rise until like 9am in January](https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/tgmlod/how_permanent_daylight_saving_time_would_change) with permanent DST.
