Jason Isaacs says Harry Potter director Chris Columbus told him to ‘pull back’ on his Lucius Malfoy accent ’80 to 90 percent’

I’m American, but has there ever been anybody in the world in England or anywhere that ever spoke like that?’ I said, ‘No, but it’s a film about wizards, after all.'”

It’s wonderful. Let’s do one more, [but] could you pull back on the accent like 80, 90%?”

2. isaac’s went hard for that role. he IS lucius malloy. and he was very picky about his portrayal. love to see it

3. Hmm I guess I’m super American because I never noticed Lucius Malfoy sounding distinctly different than any other character

4. I forget which movie, might’ve been the first, he was pissed at one of the trio and started saying “Avada” but got cut off and they way he said it was more hissing than speaking. That weird but stuck with me all these years and I watched these movies as they released in theaters

5. I’d enjoy a redub of Lucius using Isaacs’ *White Lotus* accent actually.

6. I’m not surprised. His accent in White Lotus is so over the top that it’s distracting.

10. He’s so good at playing detestable characters. He was great as Admiral Zhao in Avatar the Last Airbender.
