United States confirms Trump envoy Witkoff to speak with Iran • FRANCE 24 English

Iran says a new nuclear deal could be agreed with the United States provided Tehran’s longtime adversary shows sufficient goodwill in talks due this coming weekend. The country saying Iran’s principal aim remaines the lifting of sweeping US sanctions. Their reimposition by President Donald Trump in 2018 continues to deal a heavy blow to the Iranian economy. Iran though continuing to say the talks will not be direct, countering claims Trump made on Monday of direct talks. FRANCE 24’s International Affairs editor, Philip Turle has more.

  1. President Macron has played very actively against the plans the US has been using for the Middle East during President Trump. Hard not to think that Qatari money has been speaking when President Macron has opened his mouth about the Middle East. More than interesting to follow if President Macron continues to side with Qatar and Iran in their game against the US, or will he change sides.

  2. Iran is closed to building a nuke in a week since 1992. Don't be surprised if you eventually see Iranian nuke soon. Do anyone think Russia and China wouldn't have urged Iran to build and hide them all this why?

    so the Crook broke the treaty out of envy,

  9. Trump has tariffed the world, something no one thought he'd do. Iran sees it in real time. They can have nukes or peace…can't have both anymore. All the points of clutter in between have been done away with. Balls in their court.

  12. It has been proven that Iran remains vulnerable to Israeli aggression as long as it lacks a real and effective defense system. It is vital for Iran's long term security to build such a deterrent system that has shielded other nine nations from outside aggressions.

  16. Donald Trump is lying. His own governments reports say Iran does not have nuclear weapons or intends to get them. America has been planning to attack Iran for over 2 decades.
    Yes we did know what happened in Yemen. America bombed civilians and killed them when they were having a council meeting.
